Leader passionate for education

The state of Missouri lost one of its great educators (this week). Jim Tice, former superintendent of schools in Strafford, passed away as he was being taken to St. Louis for emergency surgery.

I had known Jim for 16 years and had served with him on committees and boards off and on for most of that time. I have never met anyone with a greater determination to bring educational opportunities to young people. He was passionate about the exploitation of every new technology in his mission to bring quality education to the outlying areas of the state, and those who shared this interest were continually receiving his "quail sightings" to stimulate our own imaginations in that quest.

It is safe to say that there are very few people involved in K-12 education in the state of Missouri who are not familiar with Jim and his lifelong efforts. His influence will have a positive effect on generations of Missouri students, and his loss will be felt by all who were privileged to know him.
